We start with a short phone call for me to hear more about your needs and answer any questions you have for me.
Once we’ve decided to start working together, I send you some intake forms via email, which you will submit online. This can all be completed prior to our first session.
My intake process is usually between 3–6 sessions where I will gather detailed information about your current problems, early childhood experiences and your family of origin relationships, and your goals for therapy.
Then we get started with regular sessions to do the work.
-
A phone consultation is a 15–20 minute call where I ask you questions about what is bringing you to therapy.
You ask me questions about my practice and process, we go over fees & insurance, and schedule an intake session if it seems to be a good fit.
-
Regular sessions are 50 minutes. Individual intake sessions are 60 minutes; couple intakes run 75 minutes. I offer extended or double sessions on a case-by-case basis.
-
I share the suite with three other psychologists who all run independent practices.
-
I will give you the door code so you can let yourself in and out of the waiting room as needed; we just ask that you don’t linger in the hallway.
-
I require all clients to have a backup credit card on file. However, you are welcome to pay for your sessions via cash, check, or Zelle to avoid the processing surcharge.
Cash, check, and Zelle payments are due at the time of service. Any outstanding balances starting the next business day will be charged to the card on file.

I work with clients in their mid-20s all the way to clients in their mid-70s. This is the only way I have managed to stay up to date with Gen Z terminology.
-
I work very well with both men and women. In fact, I’m known for being able to build an alliance with husbands as well as wives in therapy, leading to better outcomes. In the midst of the current upheaval in gender relations, this is a huge asset.
With families, I see parents and older teens (15 and up) who wish to join therapy. I never require anyone to attend therapy against their will.
I do not see adolescents alone, but I can offer referrals if desired.
-
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. Additionally, I hold two Master’s degrees: one in Secondary Education from Georgia State University, and one in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University.
-
I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia (LPC014267), and I am registered to provide telehealth services in Florida (TPMC7098).
-
I like to think so. I personally tested many couches in my search for the perfect therapy couch.
Many clients love my couch; others prefer to add a bit of structure with a pillow. I am often told that my office “smells great” and that people enjoy being there.
-
You are welcome to recline if that feels comfortable for you; however, the therapy I do assumes that we are equals, with me being better resourced at knowing how to help you with your goals, and us focused on your best interests.
-
Virtual therapy is very similar to in-person therapy, except that we interact over a screen. Clients often appreciate the ability to join their session from the privacy of their vehicle, and virtual therapy comes in most handy when a person is recovering from an illness or injury.
Sometimes virtual therapy can lack the immediacy of an in-person session, and I recommend in-person sessions for couples except in extenuating circumstances.
-
I wouldn’t, because it’s hard to take off. But the choice is up to you.
-
Kleenex Anti-Viral, all the way.
-
Clients are often very curious about the personal lives of their therapists. You are free to ask anything you want; it’s my job to make sure our boundaries stay intact.
-
I do find that my thinking about a client’s case often happens “in the background,” and clinical insights find me at random times.
But don’t worry: your problems are not “stressing me out” or “depressing me.” I suppose most of us develop some intuitive boundaries around this over the years.
-
So many…the Kroger app, Apple Maps, the Weather app, Amazon (that’s debatable).
-
I love both.

I am known for my ability to work with complex cases, and I have had success with clients who have had previous unsatisfying experiences in therapy.
If you’re ready to break free from frustrating cycles of despair, overthinking, miscommunication, and emotional gridlock, and start changing your life and relationships for the better, I am at your service.
